In this course, we’ll take the time to explore the entire journey of the wool—from the freshly shorn fleece of a Cormo sheep to the finished yarn.
We’ll start with the raw fleece and learn how to assess the wool and sort it for further processing. Next, the wool will be washed and dried. We’ll focus on properly preparing the fibers and card the washed wool into a beautiful spinning fleece.
Then it’s time to spin: We’ll use our prepared fibers to create a single yarn, which we’ll then twist into a two-ply yarn to achieve the desired texture. Finally, the yarn is wound onto a bobbin and measured so we can start a project right away.
A hands-on and varied one-day course for anyone who wants to truly get to know wool from the ground up and experience the journey from fleece to yarn firsthand.
