Discover the gentle versatility of Targhee wool! This relatively young breed of sheep was developed in the United States starting in 1926 through the selective crossbreeding of Rambouillet with Corriedale and Lincoln\/Rambouillet. The goal was to breed a robust, adaptable sheep that produces both high-quality wool and meat\u2014ideal for the vast landscapes and high plateaus of the American West. The breed owes its name to the Targhee National Forest, where the animals traditionally spend their summers.
\nIt\u2019s no coincidence that Targhee is also known as the \u201cAmerican Merino\u201d: the fibers are wonderfully soft and fluffy, while the slightly longer staple length provides greater stability compared to pure Rambouillet. With a fineness of about 25 microns and a fiber length of 75\u201390 mm, you get an airy, elastic wool with matte curls and pronounced crimp.
\nThe natural color is a pure white\u2014perfect as a base for vibrant or soft dyes.
